The Low Crater has the players investigate a long abandoned dragon lair that has recently been inhabited by Kobolds. SPOILERS AHEAD!
After finding a battered group of knights on the road, they are informed that there is a nearby old dragon lair that has been taken over by Kobolds. The knights tried to clear out the lair but were driven off by the Kobolds (yes Kobolds for a level 6 adventure!). They ask the players to clear out the lair and to try to find their friends that were left behind.
The lair itself is pretty heavily trapped, which the players should find out pretty soon into the first tunnel. After a few combat encounters and traps the players find a room with a strange alter of sorts. It has a body on a large stone, with five dragon statues around the alter. These statues attack the players if they get too close unless they find the buttons to deactivate them in the back. The body on the stone is one of the lost members from the group of knights, and he is raised into an undead of sorts resulting in a fun fight.
The last room is where the remains of the dragon. There are a group of Kobolds around the bones (only the skull and claws) that sacrifice themselves as the players enter to revive the bones. The final boss fight is against the dragon skull and claws with the reward being the dragon's treasure.
This module was different from our past few sessions in that it was very heavy combat focused. I thought I would try it because the combat was very different than what the players are used to and I thought we could have some fun with it (spoiler, we did!). Some of the puzzles/rooms aren't as interesting as the others (the mud pit room was pretty lacking) but I think my players chose the most fun path, which is the rope bridge.
